English Riding Lessons are available for all ages and all standards.
We teach children from four years of age upwards starting on Lead Reins and Pony Trails and progressing to The Pony Club at Burley-Villa part of the British Pony Club.
We also teach adults who want to learn to ride from scratch or who haven’t ridden for years and we teach seasoned riders dressage and jumping.
Riding Lessons in Traditional English Saddle
English Riding Lessons are available everyday (incl weekends) with late lessons after school on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. We have two arenas for instruction, an Indoor Arena 60 metres by 20 metres and an All Weather Outdoor Arena which is 48 metres by 25 metres. You don’t need to go out and spend a lot of money getting kitted up to start riding. We have Riding Hats and Boots you can borrow if you don’t have your own and you are fine starting off wearing at least a T-shirt (shoulders must be covered) , long trousers or jeans with sturdy boots or shoes with a small heel. Don’t wear trainers or flat shoes. If a rider gets the riding bug, then that would be the time to start buying their own hat, jodhpurs, grooming kit and, eventually a horse!
FOR THE KIDS
BEGINNER RIDING LESSON OR PONY TRAIL
A 30 minute fun and informative introduction to riding for children on one of our ponies as a lesson in the arena or as led ride around our fields and woods.
Only £22 each or two for £42
We normally start children from four years old riding on 30 min ‘Lead Rein’ and ‘Steerers’group lessons… fun pony lessons to build confidence and a get a few basics of riding and balance on a pony which costs £22 per rider.
Once they have balance and can trot they can move onto 30 min private lessons where they can improve their position and technique, moving onto rising trot and canter. The Instructor is able to put them on a lunge rein to help improve position, develop an independent seat and hands. These lessons cost £35 for 30 mins, £45 for 45 mins.
There is also the option to join our ‘ Pony Club ‘. Burley-Villa is an approved Pony Club Centre. This means that we can offer all the activities, badges, rallies, camps and riding tests which are currently only available to children with their own ponies. We have regular Weekday and Weekend Lessons and Pony Care sessions, plus special events such as our Easter Rally with best turnout, team jumping and Easter Egg hunt. To help reduce the cost of a series of lessons, you can buy a 6 for the price of 5 Ride Card, where you can book lessons as often as suits you. For instance, a Ride Card reduces a Beginner Group from £22 to £18.33 and a midweek Private Lesson by from £32 to £26.66. Ride Card sessions don’t have to be used on a weekly basis or all booked in advance.

Minimum age is 4yrs.
£35 each or £32.50 each for 2 or more riders
We have lessons for all standards of rider from beginners to basic showjumping and dressage. Most adults prefer private lessons or lessons with a friend and, as with the children’s lessons, all are available as Ride Cards of 6 for the price of 5 to help with cost.
Private ‘one to one’ lessons cost £35 for 30 mins and £45 for 45 mins .
